‘Effective Group Decision Making’

‘Effective Group Decision Making’

The nonprofit Ku‘ikahi Mediation Center (KMC) will host the seminar “Effective Group Decision Making,” which is being presented for the first time in Hawaii by Randy Hirokawa, on July 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Hilo.

“Making its Hawaiian Islands debut, this popular full-day seminar reveals what your group can do to maximize its ability to make good decisions,” said KMC Executive Director Julie Mitchell.

Participants explore what influences group decision making, how groups make “bad” decisions, and how meetings contribute to faulty group decision making. In addition, participants learn how to make effective decisions in one’s own group.

Participants also have a chance to assess past group decision making experience and engage in a hands-on exercise in group decision making.

Hirokawa is dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Hawaii at Hilo. He is known widely for his expertise in the area of small group communication and decision-making effectiveness.

Tuition for the “Effective Group Decision Making” seminar is $125 and includes training materials, continental breakfast and lunch buffet. Group discounts are available. To register, contact Mitchell at 935-7844, ext. 116, or julie@hawaiimediation.org. The location will be announced later.
